Chinese Government Scholarship
Chinese Government Scholarship program is established by the Ministry of Education of P. R. China (MOE) in accordance with cooperation and exchange agreements or consensus reached by the Chinese government and the governments and institutions of other nations. China Scholarship Council (CSC), entrusted by China’s Ministry of Education, is responsible for the admission, enrollment and administration of Chinese Government Scholarship recipients.
Chinese Government Scholarship provides full scholarships to talented students and scholars to pursue higher education or conduct research in Chinese universities. It sponsors undergraduates, graduates, general and senior scholars to study for degree and non-degree programs.
Duration: Undergraduate:4-6 years; Master:2-4 years; PhD:3-5 years; Non-Degree:1 year
There are 289 designated Chinese universities offering Chinese-taught and English-taught academic programs in a variety of disciplines: science, engineering, agriculture, medicine, economics, law, management, education, history, literature, philosophy, and fine arts, among others.

Chinese Government Scholarship covers:
- Tuition
- Free university dormitory or accommodation subsidy
- Stipend (directly granted to scholarship recipients)
Undergraduates: CNY 2,500 (≈$400) per month
Master’s students/general scholars: CNY 3,000 (≈$480) per month
Doctoral students/senior scholars: CNY 3,500 (≈$560) per month
- Comprehensive medical insurance:
CNY 800 (≈$120) per person per year
To be eligible, an applicant must:
- be a citizen of a country other than the PRC and in good health both mentally and physically;
- meet the following requirements:

Applicants from Southern California, Arizona, Hawaii, New Mexico and American Pacific Islands may apply through Consulate General of the People’s Republic of China in Los Angeles or apply to the designated universities directly.

To fill in and submit the Application Form for Chinese Government Scholarship online via the Chinese Government Scholarship Information System (https://www.campuschina.org) |

The Consulate will screen candidates’ documents, and then submit the recommended candidates list and their application documents to China Scholarship Council (CSC). |

CSC will organize designated universities and experts concerned to examine applicants’ eligibility and academic performance before finalizing the short-list candidates. |

CSC will notify admission results to the Consulate that will subsequently inform the applicants and send them admission letters. |
